Default Spun A Rod

I have a 2000 Mustang GT and I spun a rod. I get that lovely knocking sound in my engine.

Hear are my questions as I know nothing about replacements.

What can I replace the motor with besides another motor from a 2000 mustang gt?

Will all GT motors from 99-04 fit? I was told only 99-00 fit. . .

Also I think the same 4.6's are in ford trucks and expeditions (the triton 4.6?) Will that engine mount up correctly and fit?

I am in college and low on cash . . . looking to spend around 1000 on an engine to replace her with plus install.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!

99-04's are the engines you'll be looking for. You have whats called a Windsor engine. (engines in mustangs between 99&00) there are some basic differences between these engines and the 01+ but neither is better than the other. You're best bet is to find a complete engine and drop it in but unless you're doing it yourself $1k isn't going to be enough. 99-04 engines go for about 700-1500$. I paid 800 for mine with 34k miles.

If you do get an engine from an 01-04 you will also need to change your clutch and possibly your flywheel if it doesn't come with one. The Cam Covers are a different bolt pattern as well but hopefully you'll be getting the complete engine. (Be weary of buying an engine that's already had parts taken off. You never know what kind of crap you're going to get.)

ok so 99-04 will mount up perfectly with no issues?

i had a friend check his parts system and he said it said the 00 can only be replaced with 99 and 00 engines. . . any truth behind this?

have you guys dropped a full long block into an 99 or 00 from an 01-04 stang?

i bought a new clutch too before this happened so now i have to call jegs and check to make sure it works in a 99-04 engine also.

The engines do have some minor differences but if you are doing a complete engine, engine swap they are interchangeable.

Other then minor differences I honestly can not think of anything that would prevent that engine from working perfectly for you.
