Default 4.6 sohc rings? on s281

ok so i am now a proud owner of a 96 s281 with the sohc 4.6 it a nice car but the motor is toast....
specs:
vortech sc running 6-12psi i dont know
stock bottom end that i know of
ford racing heads and stage 2 cams
it was tuned and built for set up.
the rings collapsted on one clynder so it pushes compression out the block.

my queston is can these rings be changed out the bottom?? or do i have to pull the head?? is it a pain in the butt to tear and repair these motors. i deal alot with hondas and chevys and older fords but this is my first time on these?

i am just going to replace the rings that need to be changed so i can drive it. i have another 4.6 i plan to build for high boost.

Nah, once you get it out of the car, it's easy. It's one of the easier motors to pull and work on. If you can handle Honda's, you can handle this. The biggest thing to note is that the head, rod, and main bearing bolts are all torque to yield and are non-reusable. It's best to switch to ARP studs for everything.

I agree w/ ^^^above. You will have to pull the engine. It isnt particularly hard, it is just time consuming. Working on them isnt too bad either.

What kind of build to you have planned for high boost???

Not even really time consuming. I pulled it in 5 hours and I had never done the 4.6L before. I could drop that down to 4 hours pretty easily.

i plan to do a stroker and as much boost and nos water meth i can at it.

we have already played with 2 mystic cobras

my best friend has number 2 in the world and he has a built 4.6 with a vortech running 14psi and has a front mount intercooler its tough and i love it.

my other friend has another mystic running the 5.1 stroker with a kennebelle at 18psi with a 2 stage nos set up and water meth fully built suspesion and a viper 6 speed. its very fast.

You could probably do it with the engine in the car, but it would be one giant PITA. Honestly, I had never pulled a ford 4.6L and I got it completely removed in one night.

i drove it last night to the shop to tear it apart.. what a sad smell... it smokes out the valve cover and all the hoses can wait to take it apart..
