You won't lose horsepower...but its a bitch of a job for a small gain....hence "go with long tubes".

I'm running them, I think my exhaust sounds absolutely perfect, wouldn't change it. They fit really well, and are really good quality.

My exhaust sounds badass too. But I wouldn't go through that miserable install again. **** that.

@OP: I got my shorties for FREE. They were brand new. If I knew what kind of job that was, and I could go back, I wouldn't have installed them.

I wouldn't go blower then, You'll hate it, especially if you forget to do something, and have to uninstall it to redo it correct.

And don't even get me started on changing belts. O M G that is a bitch.

That's mostly top end work besides fuel pump, and tapping the oil pan(if necessary). I don't mind big jobs, but the header job was just so much of a PITA. Its not that there was a lot to do, there was just no room to do it. Hell, my dad and I just ripped out his 5.0 out of his pinto last weekend. Wasn't that bad, except working on one of those is cake compared to these cluttered pieces of ****.

and they perform well for the people who have them?

i had to drop the k-member for my install, not sure if you would for the short compared to the long tubes. the mac long tubes i bought were ok installing with the k-member off, but when i had to remove the header bolts for the head swap... good lord. I'm not kidding those 16 bolts took the most time out of anything ever. good thing for racheting wrenches or id still be in the garage hahaha. Id say go for the short ones if they are real cheap and in good shape, however my brand new mac lt's and O/R h was 550 with all gaskets, bolts and what not.
