Both the X2 and the X3 are custom tune device's only, if your looking to purchase the X2, make sure that the device is unlocked (either stock or unused). Naturally the X3 would be the better choice of the two, but the X2 will get the job done. X3 advantages over X2: 1. bigger memory capacity (comes in handy with the newer vehicle's) 2. able to datalog on device for longer periods of time 3. if vehicle does not start, SCT can recovery your vehicle using the X3 4. New updates would always be available.

I would get the x3, ive seen a lot of unhappy people buy old tuners that claim to be unlocked, but the seller doesnt always know what there talking about. Save up, buy the x3.

+1 - that is the biggest risk on purchasing a used device, and FYI to unlock a device the cost is $150

Brenspeed or American Muscle, i just bought mine through AM just waitin on my car to get back from the shop to put the tune in. I forked over the dough and got the livewire, most will bash for it, but i really like it a lot.
