Default 1997 cobra worth 7,800?

Seen a cobra for sale on the other side of town. Have been wanting to mod my 99' but with 162,000mi on it (bought it 3 months ago for $3,200), i don't think it would be worth it given the high millage. The guy says it is a 1997 cobra, 115,000mi, real good condition, and just installed a new short shifter.

Since you all know your V8s, i was wondering if this car is worth it, or should i just have fun with my current Stang and through a few mods on it anyway?

Much thanks for the advise.

Sounds expensive to me. I bought my 96 GT with 78K with minor cosmetic damage for $3000. I know I only have a GT, but for a 12 year old car with 116K in this economy sounds pretty high. Check the carfax on it.

EDIT: The blue book price in good condition is only 6700 miles. And that's if there isn't any problems with the car.

I agree.

Have fun with your current Stang, mod it if you want, just don't buy the Cobra.

thanks for the input guys. After thinking on it, i agree that price is way too high. I'll just mod my current stang and be happy with it.

Once again, thanks!

have a 96 with 164k on it, few mods here and there, still notice a good bit of difference. I'm about to put some 4.10's in it asap. just came in wed. it still hauls *** in her old age.

I still think it's worth an upgrade... but I would keep shopping or smash this guy in the head with a frying pan until he realizes he's insane to ask that much.

I think i'd be lucky to get 12k for my GT even in as great a shape as it's in. I know it's apples and oranges but my GT is in better condition that 90% of all those old Cobras and It's still limited because of the age.
