This thread is disappointing. lol

minimal bolt ons, a blower, and supporting modifications with a tune will be very very near 400 rwhp.

You'll spend nearly as much shooting for 320's N/A

to make the power no, to stick it to the ground yes. Hang around here for a while and you will learn. Its not as hard as you think but it takes lots of money. I am not a fan of spraying, never have been, never will but thats just my opinion. Some love it some dont. I am a huge fan of blowers but they are not cheap. You have to pay to play in this hobby. Thats just the way it is.

just a few things I have learned.

- if you cant afford to fix it dont break it
- if you cant afford to do it right dont do it half a$$ just because you are impatient

400 hp (crank) is fairly easy to get to. That's around 340 rwhp. A supercharger running 8 lbs of boost on a completely stock motor is the cheapest and easiest way to get you there. You can get a Mongoose kit for around $3,900 + installation. 400 rwhp (approx. 470 hp-crank) is a little more difficult but not a lot.

For 400 hp you do not have to change anything else on the car. Your clutch, transmission and rear end will handle that level of horsepower. You should get sub-frame connectors stiffen up your frame. If you intend to run drag radials on the track you will need to beef up the rear end. If not you don't need to. You stock 3.27 gears are just fine. In fact I had less traction problems on the street with them than my current 3.73s.

Get the supercharger and enjoy the power. You may want to do other mods as you get the time and the money but its not really necessary.

Edit: I just realized from reading another thread that you have an automatic. 400 hp on an automatic will get you around 320 rwhp because of greater parasitic loss through the drivetrain.

Do you want 400hp at the motor or 400rwhp?

My advice was for 400 at the crank. 400 rwhp with an automatic transmission is really pushing past the limits of the stock rods and pistons. Thats approximately 500 hp at the crank. Assuming a 12% parasitic loss through a manual transmission that would be 440 rwhp on a manual transmission car. Some say its 15% loss but thats still equivalent to 425 rwhp. Most likely the real number will be somewhere inbetween but its still more than you should go with the stock rods and pistons.
