96 gt engine SWAP with 02 gt engine

engine SWAP
I'm on the verge of swapping out my 96 16V engine, trans, wires and ecu WITH an 02 gt engine, trans, wires & ecu.
I have a few questions:
1) Is it possible to do this swap?
2) and if it is, will the parts I purchase for an 02 gt set up fit on a 96 gt chassis?
I don't want to be stuck when I already have the new engine in my car.

if your 96 engine is close to the mileage of the 02 motor and your motor dont have any problems just swap the H/C/I over (PI swap, google it) and youll have more power than the 02 motor would.
the blocks on the motors are the exact same, so it will drop right in. everything else i cant say for sure but it wont be too difficult.

right!

I know what you're saying. The block from the 96 gt works better with the PI heads and intake from the 02 engine. But the 96 gt engine has 160k! The 02 only has 55k. So this explains itself, I must go with the 02 gt better huh
you're correct though!

just swap the the entire set up and maybe some lt headers while the engine is out, much easier to install at that point. if you are mechanically incline, shouldnt be to hard to do, just take your time to do everything right the first time. good luck.
