Default 5.4 liter

is it possible to use the 5.4 block out of a truck with our heads, timing chain, intake and so forth. i have never seen mention of it and was just wondering is it possible? and if so is it a fairly simple bolt in swap with minimal modifications?

I know the heads will bolt up to the block.

But you will need an intake manifold spacer due to the added deck height of the 5.4l block. I am also not sure if you need longer timing chains.

It is a fairly simple swap, but it honestly does not gain you much power, because adding stroke to these motors with their inefficient, **** poor flowing heads does not make for good power gain.

But you will pick up some low end low end torque.

ive seen a 5.4 apart and the timing chaing looks longer, the timing cover is different. header choices are minimal too. heads will bolt up and you will need a spacer for the stock manifold or a custom one. very doable swap.

5.4 mustang swap is very doable. I'm currently in the process, and there are many across the country that have pulled it off. its not as hard as one would think. check this out for more info-

i was thinking of using patriot stage 2 heads for a 4.6. if this will work shouldnt it eliminate the need for any kind of intake spacer of adapter

Its not the heads. With the higher deck height of the 5.4, your heads will not be the same distance as they were with the 4.6. they will be farther apart so you need a new intake manifold or the spacers. And you can get the hardballr intake manifold for this swap too. its supposed to be a pretty good intake manifold. Longer timing chains definitely. But other than that stuff, youre good to go i think.
