Best Brakes & Rotors to buy
#11
Yeah... I've briefly heard of Hawk pads. I see that American Muscle has (Hawk Ceramic Brake Pads) for $79.99 (rear) and $89.99 (front). is that about the cheapest price around??? Then for the rotors... when is a good time or when does one know when to replace rotors? Thanks guys

Why spend 80+ on front and rear pads each plus 200 for new rotors when you can upgrade to cobra brakes for 300 bucks and stop just as good if not better than you would with the stock sized upgrades?
13" is better than anything your going to get stock sized.. I am almost afraid to put hawk pads in my cobra calipers because I dont want to eat steering wheel every time I stop.

what hoss said is true, however shipping is a real killer, I just bought a set of SSBC "Big Bite" rotors and hawk pads, the rotors are slot/cross drilled and fit the stock GT calipers
I live near CJ Pony Parts and it was cheaper for me drive to them, buy the parts form them and do it myself than to have some online company ship them, plus the cobra rotors are more performance minded... just my 2cents, I'm sure someone will find something that I didn't think of and make me regret doing what I've done

Then also is it smart to replace the brakes & the rotors together? The car hasn't had either of them changed & she just turned on 45,000 miles

Ic... hmm sounds good actually lol but where would I find cobra brakes for $300 & would I have any triming or do they match up?

You dont have to get the cobra branded ones you can get the ones with the pony on em. slip right in, hassle free no modding.

> Does that mean I wouldn't have to do anythang to the rear brakes?
> Does the kit include pads & new brake line?
-Thanks

and the kit comes with pads, you reuse your stock brake lines or you can buy stainless lines. you also need to buy the banjo bolts form the same site.

For brake pads any of these are good choices...
Hawk HPS
Carbotech Bobcats
Cobalt CSR
As as for rotors... I've always just used the blanks for the vette at Napa. They do well for how I use them and I would recommend them.
