tuning my car with cams
#4
I definitely recommend having your cams degreed, but that doesn't require adjustable gears. A lot of Performance shops will grind out the keyways on the stock gears so they can properly degree the new cams.
As for tuning, there are parameters that should be adjusted using Delta Force to get your car running properly after the cam install. How much adjustment depends on how aggressive the cam grind is. For my blower cams, I had to crack the TB to allow a little more air in at idle then adjust the idle air values in the software to keep it from stalling when coming to a stop and smooth out the idle as well.
