This has been a good question and so far this is the only actual direct swap comparison i have found enjoy! Hope this can help everyone understand the advantages of a light flywheel.

Good read. The al flywheel is easier on the drive-train and the fastest mod motored cars use them. That's all I needed to know.

Interesting read but I am not going to rush out and buy an aluminum fly-wheel not worth the additional cost to me.

The light-weight fly WILL spin up faster, but will require some additional feathering upon leaving the line. Once you are engaged, you WILL accelerate faster, all things being equal. As I am not into the 1/4 mile, I prefer the heavier fly as it tends to "smooth" things out in the drivetrain for DD rides.

Nice article and lots of good info
