I will throw in some change here. 4 years ago when shopping for a good used hot rod, my budget was 12k. Could of gotten a lot of different makes and models for that amount. Had to go for looks... HANDS DOWN...
4th gen Camaro and Firebird are the ugliest ones ever produced (imo). Especially the Firebird. I'm 38. I grew up as my favorite cars being the Fox Body and the 3rd gens. I owned an 89 IROC (305 tbi) and a 88 GTA (5.7 TPI L98), both with 700R4 autos. Both somewhat peppy from a dig, but by third gear, they wouldn't get out of their own way. And there was never room for true duel exhaust. Had to run the sh!tty Y pipe (fake duels). Sounded like crap.
Now the owner of a 03GT, I must say its been my favorite car. Looks wise. I still have a soft spot of the older 5.0 Fox body's, and 3rd gens, but the New Edge is the best looking Mustang ever produced. Fact!!!
There is more to life than going fast. You got to look good while traveling from point A to point B.

I have an L98 89 IROC-Z as well. And yeah, spot on. It's a stump puller from 1st to 2nd, but by 3rd, it has nothing left. Not much beats a modular in the sound department. As for the looks, I HATE the catfish Z28, but the LT1 Z28/Trans am/Formula and the LS1 Trans am/Formula aren't bad at all.

I highly doubt that guy raped 99-04 gts with his lt1. I've ran a few at the strip with stock gears and no tuner and beat them every time even if my 60 ft was over 2. The mustang is lighter and geared better than the lt1.

Keep in mind that the M6 LT1s had 3.42 gears out back stock, it was the autos that were running the 2.73's. I demolish my sisters 99 GT with my 93 M6.

2 cars line up at the strip. lets say a 99-04 GT and a 95 Trans am lt1 6spd. Both have minor bolt ons. Light turns green, who's winning? 1/4 mile
I have a choice, 99 mustang GT 5 spd Cobra R hood, saleen knock off rims, cobra bumper, fully loaded, 110k miles with CAI and flowmaster mufflers for 5grand
Or 95 Trans am lt1 6spd hurst sts, slp exahust, 73k on motor with slp twin air intake bbk headers. all black leather interior, lowered on eibach springs, ws6 rims for 4.5grand
Out of all honesty which should i purchase?
