Check and clean the mass airflow sensor (MAF). I thought I had a fuel pump problem with the engine dying if I pushed down on the accelerator after driving through some deep water. My after market gage showed the fuel pressure dropping off toward zero. It turned out I had gotten water in the MAF and it wasn't sending the right signals to the computer (which controls our fuel pressure).
