Discolored Mach 1 Fuel Door
I bought a black Mach 1 fuel door a few months back and it is apparently one of the "color defective" ones i've heard about a few times. Anyone have any suggestion on what I could do to make it looking good again? Could I paint over it as is, or would it be best to sand it down to bare metal and try to repaint it? What type of paint should I use? Thanks in advance.

you shouldn't have to sand it down, but just get some rustoleum that is designed for metal and you should be good. clear it if you want a glossy finish.
where did you get the fuel door from? maybe see if they're willing to work with you to get a new one, or maybe they'll cover that under a warranty

powder coated
my frpp door i had powder coated cost me $25 (for my truck, not the mustang....but they use the same fuel door)
theres a plastic cup with a spring in it that needs removed from the hinge...and there should be two little rubber pieces where it opens...but if you take it to a powder coating place, they will remove that stuff

lol in the picture it does look kind of cool but in person it looks really bad. Bad enough to make me want to stick the stocker back on there until I get around to getting it powder coated
