Default Painting Brake calipers * PIC UPDATE*

Hey, I have had 03 cobra brakes in my room for 2 months now its time to put them on. I would like to Paint them first. Does anyone have a link to somewhere that tells you how to do it right? Like what to clean them off with< Sand Paper Grit, Which paint kit works best??? I want to Paint them a Glossy BLack, and Paint the the Letters "COBRA" As close to Mineral Grey as i can get... (I have black 03 cobra wheels, SO i think this combo would stand out nicely....)

THanks!!!

Also- Are the Hawk Ceramic Pads the best to go with??

Pics updated at the bottom.....

use dupli-colors caliper painting kit, it works very well. id sand the finish with a 600 grit before painting and clean with brake cleaner. also the hawk pads are badazz when they are bedded in the right way, i had them on the front and rear.

G2 makes a good brush on kit, here's a link to the site and instructions:

In the past, I've always gone with Hawk HPS pads, been happy with them.

I used the Dupli Color caliper paint kit. If I could do it all over again, I'd spray them.

I sprayed mine black with duplicolor caliper spray paint... was cheap easy and they look good now. I had everything apart because I had just bought the car and I was investigating and making sure the wheels weren't overtorqued etc...

i spray mine red... i just use a couple small pieces of cardboard to protect the pads themselves from being sprayed...

if i have overspray, i use some black to cover it up...

best method ever.. im very **** about my car and it comes out GREAT. i love it

its not for everybody though... you may have to paint your stuff on since you want COBRA mineral gray.. u dont have a cobra. spray it all gloss black

gloss black is a "clean" look... i used to have mine gloss black but wanted to stand out a little more

I prefer the G2 because it's a 2-part enamel. It's harder and more durable than an acrylic.

Im going with the two tone Because i think it will stand out better and bring more attention to them. Just because it says Cobra on them doesnt mean im advertising its a cobra, I still have the GT badges all over the car. Nothing wrong with letting people know where the parts came from. So, If I have 03cobra seats I should get them Reappoulstered(SP) so there is no cobra on it??

I have seen the all red calipers, and the all Black caliper and it feels like they are missing something. The Red ones with the silver poney on them are pretty sweet, But red calipers dont exactly match my car very Well..

O YEA!! AutoZone and Discount's down here in Tampa FL STOPPED carrying the Dupli Caliber Paint kit lol.. Walmart is a No Go As well... I dont wanna dish out the 120+ to get them powdercoated (plus i have until Friday night to get them finished and no powdercoating place will do that)

Thanks for the Opinions!!!

Spray the calipers with gloss black and than get mineral gray and brush over the cobra. My friend did similar with his 300zx except he power sanded the NISSAN on his calipers and it gave it a metallic look with the red caliper to offset it... Your idea will look sick
