Default Differences in GT's and cobras

I'm looking into buying a Mustang my friend's mom has

It's a 1997 Mustang Cobra.

Now I've been real curious about this but never find a straight answer.. so..

What are the differences in the GT's and Cobras!? I don't know what years are the same setups but the car in question is the 97
All help is appreciated, Bobby

cobras are usually faster with stronger engines and sometimes better looking.

For 1996, Ford finally did away with the aging 5.0 liter V8, replacing it with a new aluminum 4.6 liter, DOHC, "modular" unit that was smoother and had slightly better fuel economy. This engine produced 305 hp (227 kW) and 300 lb (140 kg)-ft of torque, making the new Cobra capable of high-13 second quarter miles. Early models were backed by the Borg Warner T-45 5-speed manual transmission. Late in 1998, Tremec bought production rights for the T-45, although it remained unchanged in terms of strength. In 1996 Ford also introduced the Mystic Cobra which featured color shifting paint manufactured by BASF. The paint was green based, and depending on the angle you looked at the car the colors shifted from green to purple to root beer to gold. The 96-98 Cobra was the last year of the return style fuel system which was replaced with a newer returnless system in 1999. The 1998 Mustangs used the 1999 style bucket, yet remained return style as they were a transition year.

Thanks for all the info but I don't think you understood my question.

what are the differences between the GT and COBRA?

as in a 97 cobra and a 97 gt what are the differences ?

let me use this as an example (Bear with me)

a 1997 Pontiac grand am SE vs a 1997 grand am GT

Gt has disk brakes se had rear drums
different computer setups giving the se lower speed limiter
gt has different bumper style
gt had better suspension
gt had better factory exauhst

etc. Thats why I ask what's the difference between a GT and Cobra? why is the Cobra worth more.. I'm sure it's more than just because of a Cobra badge

The Cobra has round fog lights, it's always a manual transmission, it will have Cobra on the steering wheel instead of the Pony, it has Cobra on the rear bumper after 1995, and most importantly, after 95 it has the 4.6L DOHC motor.

good platform to start with, 97 gt stangs are much weaker than the cobra. if you got a gt, you will be wishing u had the cobra.
32v vs 16v
bigger brakes
slightly different look
more potential
ect

uhoh.. I may have spoke too soon...I was sure it was a cobra until I read about the back bumper saying "cobra" I'm pretty sure this one says mustang and thats it.. I honestly don't remember the steering wheel.. and the only thing I was going by is from KBB the options on it

This car is pretty much fully loaded .. leather interior the mach stereo system .. it's just really really nice...

but what I "thought" I remembered maybe was a made up figment of my imagination...

a 4.6logo with the snake beside it on the sides of the car..

at least I'm possitive it's a v8.. but now knowing it may not be the cobra Idk if I want to buy it.. It is really clean and nice.. all stock with a 5-speed in it but with 103k miles and for $7000 (it's a friends mom's)
