Here's the specs: I have an 01 mustang gt with 101k on the clock. I need to do an oil change, so I went in to Autozone to get some 5w20 and the clerk told me to get 10w40 bc of the high mileage. I went with his advice and got Catrol GTX High Mileage 10w40, and a Fram PH2 Oil Filter. Is this right?
Your 1st mistake was listening to anything anyone that works at Autozone, Carquest or Advance Auto says. I have many a story to tell about them idiots, either between what they tell my customers, to personal experience. 1st rule, if it isn't in their system, it doesn't exist to them, no matter what you say. 2nd rule, if they tell you something, consider it wrong. The last time I dealt with Advance auto, they didn't know what a axle seal was, after having to find it in their system, they pulled out every option so that I could show them which one it was.
Yea, those guys are idiots. 99BlackPonyGT, its not based on anything scientific, I just did some research and it seems like more ppl liked the K&N filters better. Its kinda like asking which oil to use, everyone will have their own opinion.

I wouldn't say exactly the same, but they look quite similar. Unless you are putting your car under extreme conditions all the time, I would say either one would look great. Mustang owners seem to like K&N better for some reason, including myself lol.
