Default BULDING A MONSTER!

Hey Guys, Last time we talked i was in the process of getting an engine for free from my neighbor. He had a 1994 4.6 V8 out of a crown vic police interceptor. So i got the engine up on the stands and tore it down to the block. I have never really done anything like this so it is a learning process as well as a building process...

The motor was sitting outside for about a month in the elements. but it ran when they pulled it out of the car, it only has 30 k on it. I drained all the fluids and surprisingly there isnt alot of rust. It's a solid block.

So Basically I would like to know what all of you do setups/aftermarket/cleaning process etc. I want to build this thing up to put out alot of power one day, this is going to be a long process, most likely a year or so. All i have is a haynes manual for my car, so if you know links to any manuals i could buy or anything at all it would be a great help Thanks guys you are the best!

put it back together and supercharge it

first step is send the block to the hot tank
once its back paint it to prevent rust
buy all new bearings and put them in *cam bearing requires a special tool...machine shop can install the bearings for you*
get forged rods and pistions and have your rotating assembly balanced
set ring gap accordingly based on your FI plans, if you have any
i would buy new timing components, sans chains *they should work fine*
trickflow heads and cms stage 4 cams
p51 intake manifold, or a kenne bell

theres so many options....how much do you have to spend? you could drop $1500 in that motor and have it running or you could drop 15 grand into it and have it running...its all up to you...but for 400hp, you can leave the stock rotating assembly in it to save a lot of money, and then supercharge or spray it

Of course...What kinda looser do think I am, lol.

There are three exception for a mustang owner to not doing their own Mechanics:
  1. You're disabled to the point of Cripple
  2. You're an absolute MoTard. Meaning no matter how hard you try or want, you still have no clue. (See Signature quote for example)
  3. You're married to a Guy that's a slave for the booty. (Hetero couples only, Sorry peter-puffers)

4k for the blower and components
600 for fuel
2500 for the shortblock
1500 for heads
500 for headers & mid pipe
500 for Tuning SNIPER FTMFW
600 For the intake components
250 for gaskets and crap
325 for the clutch

There's more but, I just got myself depressed so I'm going to stop, lol.

Wow, Well I'm not gonna throw a blower on it. This is going to be my daily driver so im looking to get as much horsepower as i can with out blower or turbo(which i would never do any ways) So i guess that saves me a little money right there lol. But congrats on ur car man, i mean yeah the money aspect sucks but i bet u love that thing
