I was always afraid to do this because of that very same possibility. I am sorry to hear that I hope its an easy/inexpensive fix for you.

yeahh.. i really think it would be best if a mod just took out the whole "how to wash your engine bay" thread...

what a disgrace. i know it worked for most. but it hasnt worked for many either... it's just not something smart to have as a sticky...

where do i find these $90 COPs?

I just washed my bay twice and had no problems, did you cover up your fuse box? Id give it a day or 2 and see if things dry out. When I washed my old integras engine some water got in somewhere and it wouldnt even idle, it would fire up and just die. Let it sit overnight and it started the next day but ran like garbage, drove it around a bit and then parked it overnight again. Drove it the next day and it was fine again, hopefully youll get lucky.

well this gives me hope.. im really hoping that the car is good to go tomorrow... the only reason i did the engine bay was because i was going to a car show tomorrow. oh well

i have garage privaledges (sp?) for the night... hood is open. so hopefully it dries in there...

DO NOT CLEAN YOUR ENGINE WHEN IT'S HOT! That is what causes things to go wrong (like someones plugs cracked...) Cover up as much as you can. Any electrical connection, anything that has visible wires or connectors, cover it up. Cover the alternator. Let the car sit 1.5-2 hours after it's been running. Never use a spray nozzle, just a stream from a normal open ended hose. Also don't close the hood and start it right away. Leave the hood open, out in the sun for about 30 minutes to ensure that all connectors are dry.

They are factory replacements and just as good as any $60/per COP.

I'm sure he was referring to the actual plugs there... but yes, you can crack the heads or any other metal parts too if they are hot and you spray cold water on them (and to a hot engine, any water out of a faucet is cold). And this holds true for any car, not just mustangs. And mowers, tractors, weedwackers, etc...

Yeah, the plugs themselves. Someone in this thread posted about that happening. It's just like pouring hot water on a frozen windshield. You don't want to do it and it can damage the car.
