Default Window Tint Laws?

Up here at school, the cops take the law way too far. I got pulled over and warned for REAR window tint.

My car has no tint on the windshield or front windows. The two little rear windows and the main rear window are tinted relatively dark but you can still see through them. This is in PA.

If I don't take off my rear tint in 10 days I get a fine for over $700.00 if he sees me again. I don't want to take it off unless I know without a doubt it has to come off. I thought rear windows could be tinted pitch black if I wanted to.

This cop's message is saying no tint is allowed on any passenger car front or rear but there are many cars with tinted windows driving around everywhere.

I can't believe I'm being forced to take tint off my rear windows but does anyone know if this is law or just a ***** cop taking a big bite out of crime?

Wow 70%?!?! Its obviously up to you whether or not you take it off. If you don't just try to stay away from that cop or cops in general. Drive smart.

What do you mean at school?

Is it some kind of campus cop bugging you about your tint???

If so - That blows a big one and Barney Fife needs to get back to his donut holes.

Sorry to hear about your trouble.

But to avoid the fine, I would take it off.

Thanks for replies. I am up at Penn State Harrisburg finishing Engineering and the cops here are like snakes in the grass only bothering college students for the most minor possible violations. I guess it is they are bored small town cops and desperately need revenue.

It is both the town police and campus police but I got stopped by the town's police. He whipped his car around in the middle of the street and turfed a lawn like I was a wanted fugitive just to cite me.

At least he didn't notice my mac prochamber.

So PA and RI are the only states you cannot have any tint anywhere on a passenger car since 70% or 73% tint comes on cars from the factory.
