Default MMR 900 turbo, question

I have a question, if i bought this with low compression ready for turbos, with stock heads and cams, how bad would my power output be? because its going to be a while before i can afford turbos, but i kinda need a motor, id just like to have a motor that can handle upgrades. Any help would be nice

Depends on the compression. If it's lower than stock, then your power will be down.

With the right fuel, turbo setup, shortblock, and a great tuner, I've seen turbo cars make 900+ rwhp with 10:1 compression.

It also depends on how high you're gonna rev it. With stock heads and cams you won't rev very high, though.

well thats what im wondering, lower than stock compression woujld lower power, but its also a balanced and blueprinted block which adds power, so im just trying to figure out how much id lose?

Dont quote me on this, but i believe that you lose roughly 3% of you total hp/tq for every point in compression lost. I believe this is what Tim at MPH had once told me. This is the reason i went with the 38cc TF heads vs the 44cc. I bought a SB with -23cc pistons at first thinking 8.5:1 comp was the way to go and after alot of reading, decided it was not what i wanted. 8.5:1 will be a dog on the street unless you are in boost. The 38cc heads actually raised my comp to ~ 9.12:1 compression. Tim told me he never builds a motor with less than 9.0:1 compression. Unless of course its a race car. He said the ideal compression is 9.2:1 as far as PD blown street car is concerned.

Yes, you can run more boost on a engine with a lower comp(8.5:1) vs one that has 9.2:1 or so. But will it make more power? not necessarily

When i go turbo, Im going with no less than a 9.5:1 compression and might just go with 10:1 compression just so its no slouch when its not in boost. So i'd just go ahead and get like a 9.5:1 compression and that way your right where you were for stock compression and you wont be down on power and then you can add your turbos whenever you want to.

I would also say to stay around stock compression... with modern tuning capabilities, the days of running around with an 8.5:1 engine are kind of over.

Oh and don't look for balancing and blueprinting your block/internals to add power. That's more for durability/longevity.... quit playing video games.

Youll make more boost with higher CP, at least internally - the "boost" will be the same, but the higher CP will make a ton more power... the limit is the fuel, it will detonate.
