dyno day with the pi swap gt

With the cams, id do longtubes while youre doing exhaust. So id do it mostly all at the same time really. that way you get one tune for everything at the same time. If i had to tell you do to it in steps, id start with the bolt-on's like headers and plenum and stuff. Then do the nitrous and the cams at the same time because those are the two things that you really need a tune for. And definitely upgrade to an svt focus fuel pump or walboro 255 pump and 24lb injectors for the extra fuel needed for the nitrous and cams. Might even want to go with 30lb injectors but probably a bit overkill for when on n/a. But thats just how i'd break it down and do it myself.

I would do all the stuff as soon as you can get it done so you can get everything tuned at the same time. I wouldnt get another tune right now seeing that you will need a tune soon enough for the cams and the nitrous. So just add the bolt-on's and then save for the cams and nitrous and then do them both and get them tuned and youre good to go.

IMHO, the overall lift is a little high on the Hitech's to be running stock springs. Too much lift and reving past 6k are the 2 worst things you can do on stock springs.

Hi-Tech is actually my tuner and I've seen some dyno comparisons in their shop of their cams vs X cam. They had some pretty impressive numbers.

Well I'm not recommended you do it, that's just what they tell you. Like I told him, just buy the damn valve springs and get the cam you want.

I do agree on the spring change. It certainly won't hurt, but there are a few grinds (not Hitech's) that really don't need them imo.

Well I love Hitech cams myself I have used them in several builds. Brian, Bart and Casey all offer great support through any questions you may have. They also work well with nitrous. I did change the springs in all cases as well. your there why not change them.
my sons 98 put 298 rwhp and 315 tq with Hitech stage 2 and full pi swap. through stock exhaust manifolds with catted H and stock air intake so there is still room to pickup a few hp..
Just check them out before you decide. most people will agree they are about the best aftermarket cam for stock heads.
as far as running any injector bigger then a 24 n/a is a waste of money. even using nitrous as long as its a wet kit stock injectors are fine just upgrade your fuel pump.
I ran stock injectors with a focus pump spraying a 125 shot for 2 years on my 01 no problems at all. the car is still running to this day with no issues......
and no matter what stage 2 cam you go with on a pi swapped engine you will have to get new intake valves from manley or have the margin machined down on your current ones. Hitech did mine for like 60.00. if not you will have ptv issues
