Swap from SRA-01 IRS...

Well i found one of my friends has an 01 cobra and i was talking to him about wanting to find someone to switch rears with for an IRS and he just so happened to say he would definitely do the swap with me. So the reason i want to post this is because i have a few questions. 1) What would it take to make the IRS out of an 01 Cobra be equivalent or better to an 03 cobra rear end? 2) What for axles do they have? In reference to the number of splines. and 3) Do you think that it would be a good swap. And I have 4.10 gears and he has stock gears...which is good cus im thinking about going with 3.73's anyways for future plans of boost. And I also have strang 10 ways on the back and he has the stock struts on the back. Lemme know guys. Thanks.

Just swap the bushings/half shafts. 01 cobras have 28 spline IIRC. I do think its a worthwhile swap, but not for someone like you that likes to drag race and wants to build their car.

+1 on everything.

I'm debating if I'm even going to do it and I'm one of it biggest proponents. My power & Driving style is going to make it hard to be reliable, even with all the goodies. (No, i'd never buy 1500$ half shafts.)

Well what im hoping to do is just make my car a fun street car with the occational trip to the strip. Ive owned my car 2 years next month and i have yet to go to the track. Im thinking im gonna make a fun street car that will be able to hold its own in many different aspects. I just like the IRS. They ride better and handle better. If i did the swap, id eventually do a torsen t2r diff and 03 cobra half shafts because for the time im not planning on going with like a billion horsepower. I know a lot of people using the stock half shafts running quick 1/4 times and like 700rwhp or so. So im not really concerned about the axles cus im not planning on launching the car hard. I just want to make it so that it doesnt break. Ive heard that they are kinda weak. So i just wanna do the delrin bushing kit from SVTP and eventually the rear swap i talked about. Do you guys think that would be capable of what im trying to accomplish???

Absolutely.

thats supposed to be one of the better bushing kits out there. a tad bit on the expensive side though, and install is a bitch. don't forget that you are going to have to swap catbacks with him also.

Yea, i would do that. I wouldnt like the sound of it but the IRS would be worth it for the time being i think. Magnaflow catback...yuck. lol but oh well.
