Average price an a pair of Mach 1 heads?
Yeah so I'm in the middle of a little project right now (will update more on that in the next few weeks) and I've come across what I believe to be a decent deal on a set of heads off an 03 Mach 1. The heads are fully assembled, including cams, and have less than 25k miles on them. Before i pick them up i was just wondering what the average price you guys see these heads go for?

probably 5-$800, there the same as 03 cobra heads.
?? 03 cobra's have 4v heads right? or am I missing something? arn't mach heads 3v? |
Mach heads are 4v.
In all reality, you can get a set of 99/01 C heads for hundreds cheaper, and when ported they're basically the same. The only C heads that are really different are the FR500 heads, but they're ****ing expensive and really only worth it for a completely over the top N/A build, or if you have money that you don't care if you spend. FR500 heads are usually like $1100 for a set used. Brand new they're like $1100 a piece, bare. |

03/04 cobra- mach same heads diff intake. 99/01 cobra- mach diff heads same intake (with the absence of a cobra plaque), im not 100% about this, but visually they look the same and if i recall correctly, i saw flow charts and they flowed the exact same cfm.

Really? i thought 03 cobra heads still flowed a better CFM when ported, maybe they just flow better stock? I've heard the 99/01 heads are "Hard" to port, and easy to mess up if you remove too much metal from the "mouth" you will lose velocity quickly. |
wow This whole time I though that the Mach 1 was a 3v platform... wtf was I thinking?
so machs have 4v heads... whats the difference in the two then? (machs and cobra's) sorry not trying to hi-jack the thread |
Forged internals...

(machs and cobra's) sorry not trying to hi-jack the thread machs only have forged cranks and thats only if they are manual, cast in the autos. Cobras have fully forged internals, 39# injectors, a bigger MAF and ofc the blower + the t-56 as opposed to the tr-3650. Also the Mach has a SRA Cobras have IRS. |
From what I've read the Mach 1 has a Maurader motor with '03 Cobra heads.

(machs and cobra's) sorry not trying to hi-jack the thread But considering machs are 4v heads I think the Mach 1s are pretty much the best "building" platform Mustang has ever come out with. Its just a really well suited platform to go many different directions. Had I done it all over again knowing what I know, id have a mach instead of a GT in terms of building a car. |
