Default strip times 10/4/09

i know this goes in the street strip area, but i don't have enough posts!

but i was kind of down about my times. but here they are.

Reaction time: .0640
60ft: 1.9951
330ft: 5.8769
1/8th mile: 9.0271
1000 ft: 11.7423
1/4 mile ET: 14.0441
1/4 mile MPH: 98.05

my current mods are:
K&N Typhoon cold air intake
OBX underdrive pulleys
PP plenum & 75mm TB
M/T Et Street DRs
3.73 gear
93 oct. tune
SLP cat back exhaust.

this week i'm putting the Typhoon aluminum intake, BBK shorty headers, and BBK o/r X pipe on. and i hope to have a custom tune here in the near future. i want to go back to the strip in the 25th before the season ends, and see how she runs.

when i took her to the track when she was stock she ran a fastest time of a 14.3, but around 14.5-14.6 ADV. i guess thats a good increase, but i was still Disappointed. should i be?

Well, i was thinking you should've done a little better with a 1.9 60ft, but that's not too bad.

Ya I was also surprised you didn't have a little better time with a 1.9 60'. The time still isn't too bad. What rpms are you shifting at?

are u granny shifting? lol 3.73s and a dr 1.9 60' and still 14.0s?

I think that intake might actually kill velocity with your mods, i doubt that cai is helping either, (assuming you were talking about a cold air and an intake manifold) Im a strong beliver in the O.E.M CAI, and even manifold, should have stayed stock or gone JLT, thats just my .02 but mod $ could have been better spent. Not trying to be an ******* just trying to give you a heads up.

that's weird... I ran a 13.5 with a 1.9 60' when I had similar mods.

EDIT: Also, I would think you could also pull alot better 60' with M/T DRs just take some practice

There is one possibility i just thought of...your tune! A friend of mine has a 2003 gt with the same exact mods as me (even the same gears) but without the udp's, an a custom tune (he does have a canned tune).

When we ran at the strip (on this particular run) he cut a 1.8 60ft, to my 2.1 (i screwed up bad obviously) and he ran a 13.58 @ 102 to my 13.60 @ 104. So, even though he crushed me on the 60ft, i was pulling him pretty good once i hooked.

I know he can drive, so it wasn't that. So, unless you're granny shifting or whatever, it may be in your canned tune.

Just something to consider!

Where at in Indiana are you from? Where'd you race?

Your 60' even in a stock car should be putting you at those ET's. I'd guess you're either shifting absolutely horribly terrible (unlikely if you went 14.5 stock) or your car's not breathing right and it needs a tune bad.

My car with less mods and a 1.85 60' went 13.6@100. I'm sure your car is capable of low 13's with a slightly improved 60' @ 2-3 more mph.

when my car was tuned, all i had in it was the gear. i'm shifting at 6,000. my friend who races alot at the track his best time in my car was a 14.1. my car is an automatic BTW. i got the cold air intake, and the typhoon aluminum intake for free. so i didnt spend anything on them. every other time i ran at the track i used street tires, so yesterday was the first time i've ever used DRs. and i want to us 41 in morocco indiana

How are you launching? You using any brake or are you just mashing it? Try shifting at 5500. Stock, your car stopped making peak HP at 5250 RPMS so even with your mods youre probably still over-revving it a bit.

That typhoon intake manifold will hurt your power and is absolutely useless without a port job on your heads.

I think you guys missed that he's in an auto, with that said, I don't think a 14 flat is terrible with those mods, maybe a new tune for the mods you got since your last tune and to firm up your shifts might help out some
