About MMR

just curious if anyone has bought anything besides their short blocks? like anyone used cams from them suspension parts ported heads? Im just curious to know how good all there stuff is?

I love my MMR shortblock.... With that being said, they nickle and fcuking dime you. There isn't anything else there that they carry that you can't find somewhere else cheaper.

The only thing I ever questioned was when their tech told me that CMS stage3 blower cams aren't very big and that they run comp 278 and bigger in their "blower" cars.

In that case, whats a good place for heads for 1600 bucks. and all the other little trinkets that ill need to build this thing nicely, i figured id spend about 5k or so in parts from them and build it myself. that would be 900 rotating assembly for 1700, cobra block for 600, stage 3 cnc heads with factory cams for 1600, 400 for timing kit 230 for oilpan, 160 for felpro head gaskets 230 for oil pump dont know how much the arp head stud things are, and a windage tray. im sure im forgetting somthing, but i think its mostly gaskets that are left. Any ideas?

Send your heads out to be rebuilt. I'm sure there's got to be a Modular savvy mustang shop somewhere in Oregon. Or spend the extra and ship them to foxlake or just buy patriot heads.

you really think 1600 bucks for brand new cnc fully loaded with factory cams is a bad deal? even if they arent the best cnc job on the market? cuz if i rebuild mine i have to reuse my cams if i buy one from those other companys im pretty sure i have to reuse my cams, that is of course if i dont upgrade. i just figured new is better than old.

Does that CNC include bigger valves or stronger springs? Or is it just a port job? If it is, it's not worth the money.

For an extra $400 more, you could have trickflow heads :D I mean if youre gonna reuse stock cams, id just shell out the more money and just buy the TF's. Then you have more room for future cams.

Bman2000 10-07-2009 07:40 PM

dont think im not keeping that in mind, and now that you mention it, it does look like they have the same size valves, so not going with those heads. I wouldnt mind the TF i mean whether people like they or not who knows but everything ive read so far, they out perform good cnc heads, MMandFF did one and said picked up 34hp compared to a stage 2 set of heads. they flow 253 on intake and 189 on exhaust. which they livernoise set flows 225 and 205, and thats thier stage 3, you lose a little on the exhaust, but seems like they might be worth the same 2k price tag.

I have a set of JDM CNC heads with 500 miles in the for sale section cheap if interested. Its some of the best CNC work I have seen on the PI head.

to be honest, im kinda looking to make this whole set up brand new, plus im not even sure if i can swing the money for heads yet....sad
