Default loss of power and ticking when reved high what is it?

a few weeks ago i think that i overreved the motor a little high and it lost some power(maybe a cyl or 2) and it was ticking well i kept driving and the power came back on and the ticking stopped. well now i went to take it to maybe 4500 and again it lost power for a minute and ticked for maybe 5 minutes then all was well again, I have ran compression test and have 150 on all 8. all plugs are good and tight. not sure what else unless its a 4.6 lifter(cant remember what they are called) or a broken valve spring. I did pull the cover and didnt notice anyting and the oil is clean.

thanks

I think he was just saying they are called lash adjusters, not necessarily that that is the problem.
-How high did you rev? And when you went to that RPM did you hear a pop or a bang?
-Did the problem start immediately after over-revving?

reved to maybe 7k(not sure why rev limiter did not catch it) and i did not hear anything just power loss and ticking that both went away.

Collapsed valve spring perhaps or broken spring seat if it's intermittent and only at 4K or higher. If you're free reving it to 4K then there's a rev limiter kicking in. If you're driving though and it's doing it, I'm guessing a collasped spring.

you mean a collapsed lifter? There could be a problem with a spring, but I dont its broken or it wouldnt be intermittent.
