Default '96 GT 4.6L 2V shuts off when put in park?
I bought this car not too long ago. When I drive for a while then stop everything's fine in drive. When I shift to park it shuts down. Has anyone else experienced this?

nope... I have an auto as well, but I really don't know where to begin to diagnose it other than go to an adv. auto and borrow a code reader... and see if any are thrown.

I can check the codes. Had an EGR code when I bought it and replaved the valve which shut off the check engine light. Seems like the idle just slows down and it shuts off like it's going to sleep...

A vacuum leak ? does it do it in Neutral ? are your rpms jumping then lowering ? it could be alot of things.

Sounds like a vacume leak to me as well. But I don't know much about the auto tranny in these cars.

Could be a vacuum leak. Car has only 52K miles and sat up the last 4 years. Quite a bit of brittle hose in places.
