why not a nice 01/02 car with the PI heads?
that 99 will have the plastic intake and all the other issues associated with a 10+ yr old car and high mileage.
hopefully it's a stick. I wouldn't even consider a auto. clutches are easy to replace, and relatively cheap.
just make sure all the electronics work. I had a 03 GT and loved it.
edit: you considered a 94/95 with the 302? or a 95 Cobra? SN95's are a dime a dozen, but those cars are kinda rare, and could be fun to drive. I miss my old 302's
