Default 2003 GT misfire?

I don't have any idea of what this weird noise is other than maybe some kind of misfire. It happens about every 20-23 seconds and the car lightly jerks, almost as if it loses power for a split second. The noise sounds kind of like a muffled thump. Anyone have an idea of what the problem might be and a fix?

I'm having the same problem with my 03. My brother hooked it up to the OBD and he did not get any codes. The problem seems to come and go. I normally don't feel until I'm doing like 50 - 60 mph.

I checked mine out earlier. It starts doing it once I hit about 40mph and will continue as long as I stay above that speed or if I get above 40 and slow down it will cut off around 30-35. Does anyone have an idea what it could be?

^ Well I don't know what your problem could be but I'm pretty sure it is NOT a misfire. I guess I'm not sure what you mean by it "jerks?" And does it really lose power or just feels like it does?

It just feels like it loses power for a split second, but the RPM's don't change at all.

The jerk feels like a sudden loss of power, but it comes back immediately, so it kind of jerks you in your seat.

I had the fuel filter changed and the problem stop for a while but came back again.

Any chance it could be COPS or even backed up cat? What about cleaning the MAF sensor with some sensor cleaner (Not alcohol) Just check all your basics.

I have no idea =/ I took it by a Precision Tune a few minutes ago and had a guy listen to it and see what he thought. He said he doesn't think it could be a spark plug and most likely not anything to do with the engine. He said he thought it might be a door somewhere in the ventilation system, but even after we turned off the air it kept making the noise. It makes it at idle now as well. I don't know if I just didn't hear it before or if it started recently. It's about every 23 seconds that you hear it when I'm driving. I didn't see if it's the same while at idle. Is my best bet going to be to take it to a Ford dealership and have them check it out? I don't want to leave it overnight just to have them say they don't know and/or can't fix it. I really want to get this fixed before I put on a cold air intake and exhaust.

misfires on new edge gt's is usually always ONE thing. bad cop(s). it may be a heavier misfire under load, or under cruise, at high speeds or low speeds but if your missing chances are youve got a bad cop. pull them off and see if theres any water in your plug wells. happened to me more than once, got some rain water got in through my hood scoop and was drowning out one of my cops. cleaned it out and it was fine.

if u got a buddy with a GT swap cops with him and see if it goes away, im more than sure it will ( just make sure no water in the spark plug wells before u put his good cops in it)
