Welcome to MF! Well since she has the NPI mod motor, she unfortunately has one of the weakest 4.6's out of the bunch. These cars respond well to forced induction. If you guys are looking for something a little cheaper, a PI swap (heads, intake, and cams) with a full exhaust is good. More aggressive gears help these cars a lot too.

I guess it really boils down to how much you want to spend.

To crack 350RWHP its going to have to be nitrous or forced induction. You can get some serious power increase from PI swap.

Ok well what consits of a PI swap i understand intake, cams, and heads but what really is the meat and pataoes of the swap, and if im swaping cams ill probably go with a decent size aftermarket cam, as far as heads am i looking for stokc heads off a newer motor or aftermarket, as well for the intake

Pretty much a direct bolt on. Use the search, there are tons of writeups on it.

Hey, what's done to your TA? I had a 98 Z28 before i got my stang, and wished i would've taken that motor out, and put it in my gt instead...lol. Those LS motors are awesome!

ok the thing is, if you do a pi swap its stupid cheap. you can get the heads cams and manifold for usually a few hundred bucks maybe a little more. to put in some decent aftermarket cams you will be spending 500+ on the cams, 250 on valvesprings, and everything else still needed. if you WANT to put in some better cams go for it, but it will substantially increase the cost.

you notice how the 99-04 gt's have 260hp and the 96-98 have 220, its because of the above mods. you can get the H/C/I from a newer car for cheap, bolt it on fairly easily, flash the ecu and your good to go and you will actually have a little more than 260hp because the timing is slightly higher on the NPI (96-98) GT's.

that would be my first mod if i were you. pretty cheap to do and nets a very nice hp gain as well as a better power band in the upper RPMs. unfortunately these cars dont respond nearly as well to boltons as your LS1 does. full boltons and a pi swap you will see maybe 270rwhp with a 5speed. how much is yalls budget for the car, is she opposed to FI, is this a DD car or a weekend toy?

check my sig i did the pi swap with p & p heads. My tune sucks too cause my back brakes were dragging and the pilot bearing was missing... My timing wasnt even touched. Im hoping to break the 300rwhp mark with stage II cams and a 93 tune.
