Moving from a 15 year old car to another around the same age is always a crapshoot. Low miles may be an indicator of a well kept car, but even a car with higher mileage may have been cared for well. Higher mileage with cars over 10 years old is more the norm. You might find a 99+ Mustang GT with higher miles that is in good shape and has been well taken care of by the owner (particularly if you can find one that is still in the hands of the original owner).

Since you've already sold the Z-28, it is time to move on. I would definitely try to swing a 99 or later Mustang GT, but that all depends on availability and price. I think I'd rather take a chance on a higher mileage 99+ GT than an older GT with less miles. I much prefer the looks of the new edge Mustangs.

I had a 96 Z-28 for 13 years and loved it. Great performance, T-Tops, and eye catching looks. I didn't like the slow power windows, power window motors that would die every 4-7 years, terrible traction control that came on way too easy, and larger size than my current Mach 1.

Good luck finding a Mustang GT.

97 Gt's aren't so bad

the 215 to 260+ jump is all in a head/cam/intake swap. you will have the upper hand with higher compression over the stock full pi's. the 2v is ok i guess, but you need F/I or N2O

Yeah, I just found a 98 with only 80,000 miles. I'm taking a look at it saturday. I don't want something crazy fast right now. Just need a simple small dose of muscle for a daily driver.

4500 isnt going to get anything very reliable. i hate to say it but keep the rattle trap.

btw...NPIs are pretty anemic. test drive one and see if you still feel the way you do.
