Maybee they stripped it ? thats the only thing I can think of. They could of had someone doing apprenticeship change the lube on that bad boy and he effed it up. happen on my Gramps trailblazer.

Is it actually dripping like constantly or just a little bit when your first got home??? Could have been just some that ended up on the oil pan when draining the old oil or something. Dont get all flustered over something that could be nothing at all.

mmm..you guys do realize that most don't have a rubber gasket, they have a copper ring. That ring eventually gets compressed between the drain plug and the pan so much that it looks like it's part of the drain plug.

I guarantee that most cars have a copper ring and that's why you don't see a "gasket". The copper is softer than the pan or the plug so it can be used instead of rubber gaskets. Advantage, it's more durable and requires less frequent changing if ever. Disadvantage is that it doesn't seal on really irregular surfaces that well.

It has been week since the oil change (Wednesday 11-4-09) and I'm still getting a drop or two every few hours on the floor. I took a rag and wiped the pan but it's still leaking. I'm going to take it to the dealer tomorrow since it is my day off. I hope all goes well. Thanks for your help guys. I really appreciate it. I well let you guys know what I find out.

I just got back from the Ford dealer. I really do hate that place and will never let them touch my car again. I took the car in and let them check it. The guy comes back saying the drain plug was an aftermarket plug (I have a feeling they lost or stripped the original plug and just grabbed another plug with a washer and put it in) and was not making a good seal. He them tried to charge me $8 for a new plug and $8 for a few quarts of oil. At this point I was pissed . I them said I'm not paying you f-ing retards $16 dollars for something you guys did. I guy behind the counter got mad because I called him an f-ing retard, and he said "Wait a minute I don't have to take this kind of language from a customer." At this point another employee walked up took charge and made things right, and then as I was driving off I noticed my hood was unlatched. They will no longer be getting my business.

Jesus that BS I would have went off too. Just pick up 6 quarts of mobil1 and a good filter ( Not FRAM IMO) and change int in just a matter of minutes. Actually I say mobi1 but I switched to Castrol Edge this oil change and it seems to be doing great as far as I know. Everything looks really nice with the valve covers removed.
