Default anybody using the aluminum intake manifolds?

so I notice that companies are finally coming out with reasonable priced aluminum intake manifolds to replace those crappy plastic stock ones that like to leak. I know trick flow, professional products, and edelbrock all make them plus I'm sure there are a few others.

has anyone replaced the plastic intake for an aluminum one?

did you notice any difference in performance?

was it worth the $$$?

could you include pics?

I had tried the Typhoon.

First, It leaked water from the fitting where the heater core attaches, so it needed to be welded.

Secondly, the car ran awful because I assume the manifold leaks air as well.

I put a regular PI on and now the car runs great.

BTW, I have a Typhoon for sale... cheap!

I've got the edelbrock one aswell and it did just what I expected a short runner intake to do, which is make peak power higher than my stock stuff needs to turn, but I still picked up high end power over the pi intake. Plus it looks much better than that black plastic crap lol.

They might be pointless for right this second but cams are planned for within the next year so i dont think that they are pointless for what im gonna do. And then maybe heads after that so if i happen to do trickflows, i wont have to worry about the bottleneck of the stock manifold because ive heard that the pi manifold is the bottleneck with the tf heads.

is this the edelbrock intake manifold you are using? and is it a direct bolt-on replacement for the PI manifold?

also I am having manifold problems with my thunderbird too if anyone can help. that's what got me looking at manifolds in the first place.

Yes and no. That one is the Part number for the Carburated version.

This one is for Fuel injection #28385.

You will also need Edlebrock fuel rails, fittings, lines and adapters plus the FPR.
