Default Straight line traction..which tire?

ah what the hell, another tire thread. Had my eye on NT555's but read that those don't grip too well. even with my modest mods below my Khumo ASX all seasons are just completely worthless. Hell, even 2nd gear is becoming a joke at this point. I'm not a guy who cares all that much about lateral handling. I just want these babies to stick to the road when I get on it in a straight line. I really prefer something under $175 a tire.

Personally I like the BFG drag radials. They are on my camaro that runs mid 11s. Never once have I had a problem hooking.

How about giving toyo tq drag radials a shot. I havent seen a mustang gt try them out yet and you can get 275/40-17's for 148 a tire. I can post link if you would like.

I think Nitto dr's would be the best bet all around. Especially, given the mods you have.

I like BFG's and Nittos. My old MT's didn't last long on my DD.

I like my Nitto DRs so far. I've had them on since April I guess, and so far they've held pretty well, plenty of tread left, even with a few trips to the track. From what everyone says, they don't hook as well as MT's, but you'll get alot more life out of them.

555R is the drag radial, right? I guess the 555 is the one I read that didn't stick too great. The tire shop I've used carries Toyo Proxes. I might call and see how much they TQ drag radials run. Where'd you see for $148 a tire..and is that with shipping?

First off, what size tires are you looking for. They have 315/ 35-17's for 154 a tire plus shipping and 275/40-17's for 148 a tire plus shipping. Shipping is really not that bad. Home shipping(not 2 day or overnight) is like $27 for 2 tires from illinois to the east coast. So not bad and youre still well within your ceiling of $175 a tire. But then you have to get them mounted and balanced. Try that local shop that you want to look into for they might give you a deal that includes mounting and balancing.
