Well if you are set on an auto, just buy one and go out and see how fast you can get it before it shuts down.

Shuts down as in breaks down or just limits the speed? Haha.

Why would it do that? That would be an incredibly dangerous design. I'm not sure you understand how speed governors work.

stock is SPEED limited at about 120, beyond that the car is really drag limited to 150ish. Unless you do some serious wind tunnel time to lower the drag coefficient of the car or get 1000+hp you're topped out close to 150. The car is pushing a wall of air at that point like a semitrailier.

Edit: When you reach that limitor the engine gets the fuel cut until the speed drops below the limiter.

Ahhh, okay. And, 03BottleFedGT, that sounds awesome.

Anyway, I've read that some GT models have the speed governor and some don't? And that is apparently possible to remove it with a tune?

6er's have speed limiters not GT's. (From what I've seen at least.)

(Just to clarify for people there's a difference in a Rev. Limiter and a Speed limiter.)

Well, from what I've heard, the ones with 17" rims didn't have the governors on them but the others did. Any truth to this?
