Default A few questions about an automatic transmission.

Alright, so on the New Edge GTs, does the automatic trans have a speed governor on it? And if so, at what speed does it kick in? Can it be turned off with a tune or removed?

If not, would anyone happen to know what the top speed is on one?

Not sure what the top speed is, but im pretty sure you can turn it off with a tune. thats what i herd here on this forum. Make sure you get some good tires if your planning on driving at a high rate of speed for a long time lol.

Elaborate please...

I cannot think of a time when one must travel at a speed of 150+.

A drag race ends at 1320 feet. Very few cars on this site if any are going that fast at the end of the race.

Road racing has straight aways and I have seen them but not many of our cars will travel that fast in the straight away unless it is very long. I doubt you would road race an automatic 2v anyway.

It doesn't matter to me if you street race, crash and die. Not my problem. I am not going to give you a speech nor will I give sympathy in a thread posted about someone that dies while street racing.

150 is simply a ridiculous speed on the street whether you are racing or not.

Roll racing is lame. Take corners or launch your car.

I don't need a debate on whether or not you should road race, what speed is safe, etc, etc. I was asking out of simple curiosity of what potential stock speed my car would have if I were to buy an automatic. I don't care what anyone says - I like automatics better than a manual. 03BottleFedGT, can you tell me more about your transmission? Is it still an automatic? What have you done to it since then?
