Comp XE268H vs XE270AH

I recently had a set of Comp's put in my GT. I was under the impression that the shop had ordered the 270's. However, when I went to pick the car up, the boxes in which my old cams were showed that they were the 268's instead of the 270's. I understand that one has a lower lift than the other (.500 vs .550), but is there any discernible difference between the two cams in terms of power and sound? The car has a pretty good lope as it is with the 268's, and the durations between the two are very close.

There is an article on Comps website that compares a bunch of the xe series (those 2 included) cams on a PI head Mustang. The 270's did make a little more power due to the higher lift.

Yea comp cams are kinda strange as far as modular cams go. I think they should stick to pushrod motors..but thats just me talking.

Their 262 grind is better untill somewhere in the 5XXX rpm range then the 270 kicks in. If I would have gotten comps I would have went with the 262s most likely. the only thing the 270 offers over them is the sound. AM had a deal on 262s for like 480 I think..I almost got those instead of my hitechs. lol

Yeah but I'm talking 268's vs 270's with their difference in lift. Would the
270's have cammed harder than the 268's?

IIRC the 268 are NPI cams..

Yeah, that is correct and why I am perturbed that they ordered the non-pi cam to put in my car after we had discussed the 270s. I don't really know what to do now that I've taken the car and already paid the cash, and this is not just some run of the mill speed shop that did the work either. I didn't realize this till the other day when I took the old cam box out of the trunk and saw 268 marked on the box.

They will sound very close due to similar duration and lsa.

It's not your fault they ordered the wrong ones. That's their problem. You are entitled to get what you paid for...plain and simple!

I think the thing that will get you is the lift is at .5, most cams are at .55 at least for pi heads. MRT hit it on the head with the sound, but as far as performance.. I dunno, gonna be interesting.

I went ahead and had them install a BBK TB/Plenum as well as BBK LT's and a MAC Prochamber. The Car dynoed at 290 HP and 302 TQ after the tune. It has really been awakened.
