My rear end and 4.30s. Hooking + snapping?
So with the newly found decision to stay N/A and get my car back on the road untill i can afford a twin screw i was thinking of throwing 4.30s in the stock rear (28 spline ) and when it came time for the blower replace it with a 33 spline 8.8 (or a 9 inch) and a lower gear ratio. My question is, if im hooking on a DR with 4.30s is that gonna break the stock rear? I'm gonna put some $ into suspension before the blower as well, i'm looking for mid 12s with a DR 4.30s 01 h/c/i and suspension.

i blew my stock rear with a bolt on gt running 3.73s and all season tires...theres people here making 400hp and still running on the stock rear for awhile now
it just depends on your car...if it breaks, fix it later, if not, dont worry about it....rear end is the kinda thing you dont bother fixing until its broken or until you have excess funds

Ya I wouldn't worry about upgrading the rearend until you break it. Chances of you hooking real hard with a DR and 4.30s, I would think would be tough.
I say keep the 4.30s when you add your blower but make sure you have some slicks

Lol, reminds me of the new failmaro at MIR for the import vs domestic. Guy puts a blower, intake and all this other jazz under the hood and two of my friends who are big GM guys are like,
"so what did you do to the rear?"
Him: "nothing. I know it is kinda the weak point on the car, but it is brand new, no way something happens..."
Them: "Okay..." backs away slowly.
Guy is from Pittsburgh, drove the car all the way down to MIR for the race. Revs up to ~5k rpm and dumps the clutch. Car jerks and goes nowhere. That is a long tow back home.
But yeah, I wouldn't mess with it till it breaks.

I would say at least throw in some forged 28 spline axles cus my friend running the stock axles snapped them on launch with some MT d/r's. So at least do that if you can for some insurance. And you should be in the 12's if you have H/C/I on a 4v no problem.

*edit dammint 99blk i cant type fast enough lol*
you can break your rear on stock gears....adding the 4.30's and tires increases the chances ALOT
some people have 400+rwhp and are still on the stock rear and others blow up with minor bolt ons..
dont waste your money on hardened 28 spline axles. thats the stupidest thing i have ever heard. if you blow your posi and want to upgrade to 31 spline your stuck with 28 spline axles. while your doing the gears you mise well do the hole rearend if you have the money saves on labor cost and hassel...atleast thats what i did
