Default Brakes

I have an 01 mustang gt that i want to get to 600 hp. I will need to upgrade the brakes. Would the cobra brakes be sufficient with that type of horsepower. Do i need to change both the front and rear or would just the front do. Thanks

Yes Cobra BRAKES will work and be plenty. Do both front and back. Buy high quality pads (Hawks) and this kit from AM.com http://www.americanmuscle.com/cobra-full-brake-kit.html

With that set up you will be able to go fast AND stop fast

No, the Cobra master cylinder is the same as the GT variant. It's a direct swap. Simple as it gets.

^^^ I don't think it is a direct swap as this question has been asked before and someone commented in the review section of the Cobra kit about needing to upgrade the master cylinder. With the GT master cylinder he is still going to see a great improvement but I'm guessing the Cobra would make it a little better.

Ehhh... it's debatable, as knowing Ford, I'm pretty sure the part number is the same.

I've had the Cobra brakes on my car (all around). Wish I didn't bother with the back ones. Braking was significantly improved, and I can't see the master cylinder as being problematic... I'll check some part numbers tomorrow.

Well I didn't mean the GT master cylinder was problematic, just said you might get a little more braking power with the Cobra master cylinder. I could be wrong as that is what I have heard and read from others.

I think it more depends on what you're doing with this 600hp... If you're just driving around on the street, the cobra swap (with hawk pads) will be plenty. Oh and the cheapest place to get the kit is www.buyfordracing.com

I could be tarded.. but I don't see the full kit on the website right now.. but that's where I got mine and it was dirt cheap... like $375 for the complete from kit.

No your not tarded

When I was looking at brakes before people would send me that site but it didn't have the upgrade kit.

The Cobra brakes will be plenty if you want to drive around or do a bit of auto x. I would look into something better if you really want to do some intense track days though.
