Default CLUTCH killed my TRANS lol

took my car to a trans shop because i lost 3rd and 4th gear in my trans, said it was the forks that are broken. took the clutch out and said its completely burnt up and actually shredding, they have no idea how i was able to drive with it like that, and the flywheel has cracks in it and burn marks on it due to the clutch...needless to say its replacing time.

any opinions on what i should do? they said i could have the flywheel resurfaced or go with a new aluminum one... recommendations?

also i was lookin at the 04 cobra clutch as a replacement since it is 260 directly from ford and is rated at a little over 500 hp, opinions?

and the forks are about 100 for the parts, or the overhaul kit for the tranny is 850 replacing pretty much everything, think ill be fine with the trans at factory specs considering this whole ordeal was the clutch's fault to begin with? anyone bother with beefing up the trans or is it unneccesary?

thanks in advance!

(car is a bolt on GT with build rear that goes to the track occasionally with dreams of one day supercharging)

if you can afford it and your already digging this deep might as well upgrade any and everything possible.

if your going FI later on then it wouldnt hurt to have all this done now, that way when the time comes the drivetrain is one less thing to put money into.

i usually cant afford to "upgrade" when something breaks lol, i end up replacing with factory parts.

ProMotion

http://www.promotionpowertrain.com/TRANSMISSIONS.html

t45 built to hold up to 750 hp, its $1600 plus your core... would be worth it to upgrade now

i dont believe theres much needed to switch from a 3650 to a t45, i think clutch and flywheel is it but im not sure...but you need to replace those anyways

ive heard positive things about the aluminum flywheels, but ive heard for a street car that theyre not necessary....just do what your budget allows

Promotion has the same PMP750 in both t45 and the t3650. Its the best deal ive seen for a bolt in setup that you dont have to change anything. So i think that you should just get money for that transmission. And i wouldnt recommend the stock cobra clutch as my friend just took his out because it was somewhat stiff. Like ive been saying...and im gonna sound like a broken record here...but the centerforce df clutch is the way to go. holds the same amount of power that youre looking at and much better pedal effort and id say its smoother. But i would say the flywheel choice is up to you. I mean you have to up your launch rpms to get the same 60ft but the end of the track you'll pick up speed and drop time from what ive read about aluminum flywheels. But the billet steel flywheels will give you more inertia for launching from what ive read. So its up to you. Good luck.
