man that sounds like a major headache for the person who buys it. installing an engine from a car of different year is just beyond me. i just couldnt justify reasoning for doing that when you can find good used pi motors for dirt cheap

Well he had a 98 motor just sitting around so why not. Its the same motor...minus the heads and it has coils instead of cop's. so i can see why it was done. That was an extra couple hundred he didnt have to drop into the motor since he already had one laying around. I will admit it wasnt the smartest decision but it was a reasonable decision to use what was laying around rather than buy something that wasnt needed.

like i said...by the time the rod broke, theres probably more damage....bent rods on other cylinder, piston damage, crank damage, etc....you dont just toss one rod and then have a perfectly specced motor everywhere else....plus, can you even order one forged rod? ive always seen them sold as sets
