Default Sound difference between X and H pipe?

There seem to be a lot more X pipes available out there than H pipes, and I was wondering what the difference between the two was? The H pipes are the more traditional muscle car exhaust, right? Are there significant power differences between the two? Can you describe the sound difference?

Thanks,
Frank

This topic has been beat to death on here. Do a search on here first, and then if you have some questions feel free to ask.

Sorry, don't mean to beat a dead horse. I tried searching but "h" and "x" are too short to be included in searches.

Basically h pipe is deeper and x pipe is more raspy... as far as hp they pretty much even, but some say X is a litlle bit better (1 hp or so)

If you put quotes around those letters like above the search will work

x pipe will move the HP curve higher in the rpm band and h pipe will give you better torque than an x pipe. the biggest difference is in sound between the two. H=muscle car, X=race car. Either will give you power and the amount of power wont be noticeable but i think that you will feel it pull a little harder on the top end with an x pipe than an h pipe. But thats about all you need to know.

Basically comes down to the sound your looking for, i don't think one should be decided over another because of the gains you'll get because realistically there both identical. If you want a deeper sound go h, if you want a raspier tone go x.
