So you can make a GT thats plenty fast enough to keep up with terminators. But you gotta have the coin to do it.
Most people with cobras dont put cams in there cars, and most people that make 700~ dont do it with race gas.

Most cobra owners make 500-600rwhp, that's the norm. With a twin screw or turbos you'll see a lot of them at 600-700rwhp.

The norm for a mustang gt is nowhere near 500rwhp. Most are lightly modded at best.
You also have a *** load more to start with, better interior, rear end, brakes, tranny, engine setup for boost and bullet-proof.
It's like comparing a v6 to a gt, night and day.

Im just saying a GT can be made just as fast as a cobra. Just saying. The norm for most cobras is just about 600rwhp with a whipple/kenne bell and all that fun stuff. I know the norm for a GT is about 400rwhp if someone decides to supercharge it, as building the block and tranny isnt in everyone's mind...but some it is. I mean ive seen a lot of cobras reach 700rwhp on race gas but havent seen a whole lot on pump gas cus you'll need to be pushing over 20lbs of boost to reach that power. I know my fair share about termies. I post on SVTP sometimes and sometimes just go on and read to gain knowledge. But you can make a GT just as fast as most termies out there. I mean there are always going to be your monster cobras with twin turbos or like the new kenne bell 3.6/4.2 blowers or whipple 3.4's running insane boost and race gas, but ive seen 800hp+ 2v cars as well. So i guess its all in how much money you wanna spend.

I fully agree and you seem to know what you're talking about. I was comparing this scenario to the 800rwhp civics with no interior and 1 wheel peel to a lambo. Both equally fast cars, but in reality they are nothing alike. Same with GT vs 03/04 Cobra. Both start out as v6s but past the initial frame and shell they are nothing a like.

If you want pure power grab a lightly damaged v6 from the junk yard and a wrecked cobra drive-chain with a turbo kit on it. You can have a 1000hp car for under 15k. That would be ideal.
But I completely understand modding what you have. I had 2 GTs before my cobra and I just decided I wanted a better base to build upon.

I would highly advise anyone with a mustang to read iron fist, lead foot. That way they have a grasp on just how different the 03/04 cobras are then any other mustang ever made.

well not to burst your bubble, but the interior is really just a faceplate and seats. The engine is not as good as aftermarket, but perfectly capable up to 700rwhp. The heads are still not great @240 cfm, the suspension is decent but not amazing, the brakes are an upgrade... in comparison to a GT, the rear end is weak and hard to hook up with and the tranny has to be modified for big power and the blower is nothing to write home about. Not that a termi is "bad" its better than anything else you could start with for a stock car, but you better off performance and $ wise if you started with cheap GT or v6 and built it yourself.

^^ I am able to get my IRS in my cobra to hook better than any other mustang I've owned. The rear end in the cobra is not as bad as everyone thinks.

To the OP. I agree with you 100%. I too would like to change the bumper cobers to th termi ones. I was just telling my cousin tht i wish they made them plain in the back so that they wouldnt say cobra, because im not the kind of guy who wants to fake the funk, and if i happened to run a guy from a light and get beat i wouldnt want him thinking he beat a termi either, Thats a no no .

I'm going to come off like a complete tool but that's ok. You sir have no idea what you're talking about.

The interior is a COMPLETE upgrade as it's the most expensive interior EVER put into a mustang with the same material used in ferraris, porsches, lambos, jaguars, etc.
The rugs are different, the gauges are different, it says cobra on the airbag. That seems like a fairly large upgrade to me.

The engine is much better then a lot of aftermarket engines you can buy and has been proven to handle high levels of power for hundrends of thousands of miles in THOUSANDS of vehicles. Something most aftermarket engines cannot claim. The engine and transmition have been in cars that made over 1000rwhp stock and held up. So your 700hp claim on the engine and "weak" tranny is pretty ignorant.

I didnt realise that going from ****ty ford oem mass production brakes to 13" brembo rotors and twin piston calipers was just a minor "upgrade" from a GT.

The rear end will kick the crap out of any built solid on the twisties with extremely minor work and people RARELY brake them on the straights, usually do to driver error.

To call a supercharger that when given port work and a pulley can create over 100hp in gains "nothing to write home about" on a stock vehicle is beyond stupid. Show me another supercharged car that comes stock that you can get those gains with?

There is also a heritage and specialised group of people you belong to when you own a 03/04 cobra. It will be a iconic car for many years to come in the future so while you can build a v6 you still would not be owning the genuine article.
