Default Supercharger vs. Boltons

Hey guys.

It seems that alot of guys say just do a s/c to get big gains. I want to know would it be a good idea to forget about full exhaust, pullies, intake, tb/plenum etc. etc. and just go straight to a vortech?

Im sure with the exhaust and other bolt-ons i will make more power in addition to the blower, but would it be wise to do a blower first to get great huge power over stock difference and later do bolt ons, or is there a problem with doing it this way?

Thanks,

Since you're looking at a Vortech, i'd do exhaust and gears as well.

Blower before everything in my opinion. Everything else can be added periodically because you will be able to afford them one at a time.

Thanks guys. Is there any downsides to the $1500 kit? I mean i love saving mony but it just seems like alot more guys would have blowers for $1500. You cant beat that. There are so many guys that have full exhaust which costs just as much as the $1500. kit. Why is that?

For the sound. And an exhaust does add hp/tq. But you are right, $1500 for a Vortech and an extra 100+ hp is > than $1500 for 25 hp and a throaty growl. IMO! If I could do it over again, I would buy a Vortech, bolt on a 15psi pulley(2.95 w.6,87 crank) and AFM Powerpipe, add a pair of mufflers, and throw on some 3.73's. 12's for under $2500 w/ no loss of driveabilty.

the 1500 vortech kit is almost a full kit, your still going to need a tune, bigger injectors and mass air. Its probably a little over $2k. Just look on ebay or corral.net for some one selling a used vortech head unit. As for full exhaust, it should not be no where near $1500. Just look for used stuff, its a lot more affordable. except for long tubes, id buy them new.

Agreed, and thanks. Also is it common to find a head unit for around $600. Because i was searching and couldnt find anything, and if your gonna buy a new head unit you may as well buy a kit.
