For the area I live in all season tires are perfect for winter driving. We have occasionally snow on the roads but most of the time they are clear and dry. I ran high performance summer tires the first winter I had the car. I nearly got stuck in a parking lot on a half inch of packed snow. All season tires made a world of difference.

As far as I know they don't make an 315/35 all season tire. I kept my stock wheels for the winter and run the all seasons on them. I'll put my summer tires back on come spring.

it snows but lately it isn't snowing hard. maybe ill just keep summers on and then change to all seasons on my stockers. it sounds like the more logical thing to do.

ill def look for those continentals but im getting the feeling they just dont make an all season for 315's.

so i dont repost some random question. do the quad shocks get in the way if i ran a 17x10.5 wheel with the 315's? i remember reading that ppl get rubbing from wide tires but i didn't remember what they ran.

a 315 for occasional snow isnt a good idea. a wider tire will be harder to drive then a thinner tire. idk why no1 has said it, that being said. I run 275 max hp summer tires year round in long island ny, where it can snow pretty good. You have to adjust your driving style or get stuck lol.

Summer tires are NOT good in the snow, especially compared to all seasons and snow tires. You guys have driven through blizzards and such on summer tires? Wouldn't you rather have had snow tires?

If you got extra cash, go with the snow tires.

+1 I'm running 245/45-17 Continental Extreme Contact all season tires. They are a Z rated tire (150+ mph). For those that say all seasons don't hook, it really depends upon the all season tire and the summer tire you are comparing it to. I have Sumitomo 315/35-17s on my summer wheels. When I changed over this winter I actually thought the 245/45-17 Continental hooked better than the summer tire.

Read the test results below at tire rack. By the way the Continental tire is the best in it's category.

I personally believe that summer tires are the single biggest reason that Mustangs have such a bad reputation for winter driving.

I'm just very bitter against suggesting summer tires for wintery weather. I drove on 555R's during a winter or two several times with not much of a problem, but I also had several ****ty experiences with them (taking forever to get to half the speed limit, for example, or getting stuck in 2-3 inches of snow). They are just flat out dangerous in the snowy stuff, regardless if they are a drag radial or just a summer tire, especially compared to winter/all-season tires.

^^^Drag radials are FAR WORSE in any weather than regular summer tires. So you cant really compare the 2. Never drove my mustang with all seasons on, only summer tires. They did just fine for me in the snow.

Why not? They aren't like M/T's and they have basically the same tread pattern as the 555's.
