WEIRD IDLE AND SMELL! PLEASE HELP!!
my car is a 97 gt.. with a 2002 gt motor and trans.. now i recently found that my mil in my o2 sensors got ripped off a few weeks ago so this may be the issue but my car has never idled weird like today...
today is the first time i ran my car after being parked for 2 days.. the oil is a tad over the max level with new oil from 2 weeks ago..
now today was a really cold rainy day and my car was outside so maybe im just stressed but my car started right up but the idle was a little weird.. there was some smoke at first but it could have been due to the cold weather.. when i made my first stop i got a weird smell possible oil burning.. but that doesn't explain the weird idle does it??? any help would be awesome!!

mil is a piece that attaches to the existing o2 sensors to trick the cars computer into thinking its running fine with a full exhaust which i have..
as far as the oil change i just changed it 2 weeks ago same as always 5w20 or 30 i dont remember but same as always full synthetic.. i just put a tad too much this time.. but its been running perfectly fine everyday until today!

Actually mil is Malfunction Indicator Lamp, so the statement "...my [malfunction indicator lamp, singular] in my O2 sensors [plural] got ripped off..." was confusing/meaningless.
Mil eliminators are the filter RC circuits used to trick the PCM into believing the catalytic converters are there and functioning--you can make your own for $5 or so.
99.44% of the time idle problems are IAC valve related, some have reported success cleaning it with TB cleaner, Ford says it cannot be cleaned and shoiuld be replaced when found to be troublesome. This is the route I recommend as cleaning is at best a temporary fix...

Can you tell the difference between oil and coolant burning? The smoke, unless you have a bad gasket is just from the weather. I would do a oil change just to be sure you don't have an issue, but like Cliff said, most likely it is the IAC or MAF. There are directions on this site for cleaning both. I would clean them to see if that doesn't clear it up first, if it works, you will need to replace the IAC at a later date because it is only temporary. At least with mine it was. Also, can you describe the idle? Like was it too low, too high, was it fluctuating between like 800-1800 rpm rapidly? never hurts to post TMI.
