Default 5.1 stroker cylinder head decision

Building a 5.1 stroker for my 02 GT. I'd like to get a set of Patriot Performance 4.6/5.4 heads but they're about $1600. They claim to add 45-50 RWHP on their website although I know these are probably miracle numbers. Would I be better off porting and polishing my stock P.I. heads? How much does that usually cost and what kind of performance gain will I see? (RWHP, track times)

Patriot heads are just ported PI heads. If you are going to buy those, just buy the new Trick Flow twisted wedge heads that are $2000. They are going to give you more than any ported PI head that you can get for the price. CMS also has a power package that consists of the TF heads and any CMS cam grind for like $2500. That'd be your best bet if youre doing heads id say.
