Cobra is the way to go but if you can get a decent gt for a decent price, then go for it. With the new trickflow heads for the 2v engines, alot of people are making unreal power with the out of the box heads and even more power when ported by fox lake racing (flowing as much as 269cfm at 600 lift). Their is a setup on modularfords.com has TFS Track Heat intake,Comp Cam's XE278AH-113, TFS 70mm TB, TFS 44cc heads and the Vortech V2SI trim 15 PSI. The tune on this is very conservative and safe and it made 707rwhp and 556 trq. All these mods, plus a forged shortblock can probably cost you has much a an 03-04 cobra with a stock supercharger and less power.

i vote cobra

1)i see it as aa better car in every way
2) everyone and their brother has a GT (including me ) and mostly everyone who has a gt would love a cobra.

i have heard the 4V likes to respond better to mods than the 2V...but like mentioned before look into a Mach1....i would think if a gt and cobra boned, a Mach 1 would pop out

doesn't have a SC but you can feel the 4V power and decide how far you want to push it. if you just want a nice car with good HP...go cobra and you wont have to deal with SC install costs and parts list. its already on for you. throw maybe a good tune nd smalller pulley and off you go

Yes they are, which is why a lot of guys do a KB swap and are quickly making big power.

Cobra already has a built motor, tranny capable of holding almost twice as much power as the GT's. Has wayy better heads, esp. when ported. honestly if you plan on 500-600 hp you could Port and pulley the cobra and you'd have that easy. or you could build the GT up. The thing about a cobra is you can buy a kenne bell, a fuel pump or 2 and walla 600+rwhp.
where as with a GT ypu'd have to build the motor, port the heads, build the trans, build the rear, and buy the supercharger. idk about you, but i'd rather just add a kennebell. Im more of a naturally aspirated kinda guy but thats the route i would take if i was looking for that much power

Thanks all for the amazing replies! I got even more info than I had hoped! I'm definitely glad to hear the Cobra is easier to build up ( as I thought it would be but had no knowledge of how much easier.) I'm ver excited to be apart of the mustang community. Theres a guy I know that wants to sell me his 04 Cobra with 24,500 Miles!!!! omg... if I can sell my truck i want to buy it before my deployment as he says he won't be keeping it for long. :/

If i do puchase this car will it be ok to sit for a year? would I just be better of buying one when i get back?

If its a great deal, you dare not leave without buying it. But like said above, the terminator is the way to go. I mean the new trickflow heads are nice and all but look at that dyno sheet. The torque doesnt peak until like 6000rpm and you have to tach it out to like 7200 for peak power. Im sure with a termie you'd make your peak power at or below 6500rpm with stock cams and heads and then higher if you decide to port the heads and add cams...but you'd be in the major power territory there my friend. I know of people with cobras that are using the stock longblock with a whipple 2.3 making those power numbers and more torque than 560. Plus with the 4v, you dont have to worry about drivability issues that come with some aggressive cams. But dont leave without buying that car if its a good deal.

You know you definitely aren't the first person to tell me this and my friend just sold his 04 yellow Mach1 . This is my question though, WHY are you suggesting the Mach1 and why do you regret buying a cobra over it?
