Thinking about new cams
I have all the basic bolt-ons and upgraded exhaust but am thinking of adding a new set of cams for a little more power. I'm hoping for 30-40 hp gain with a dyno tune. Has anyone else replaced cams and if so what kind of gains did you get?

If comparing peak to peak numbers you might get 20-30 hp on average, but sometimes 30-40+ plus beyond the peaks.
A lot of people don't realize the PI head motors don't offer much ptv clearance. With that said you run the risk of carving little notches in your pistons (which could potentially cause a lot of damage) if you run cams that are too large.
Call Nick at Modular Head Shop. He can explain this to you, and make sure you don't fall prey to this.

CMS FTW!!! Just make sure when you buy cams, do it right and either get your stock valves ground down or get another set of valves to reduce PTV clearance. Then you can run the cams at the advertised specs and get the most out of your cams. That will make the install more but for me it'd be worth it.

Don't forget you should degree any cams you do go with. Nick's cams are my first choice. The other Stage 2 cams (CMS, Hitech, Comp) you will run the risk of PTV issues which to me isn't worth the risk.

Well, considering that Hitech and Comp have now retarded the ICL, they will now have more clearance than before. Unfortunately, they are leaving some power on the table by doing that.
IMO, Nick's stage 3's would be the ultimate cams for the person who's willing to notch the pistons and/or machine the intake valves.
